The girls’ swim team beat four other schools to take first place at their Jan. 9 home meet at the Gladstone Community Center. Just over halfway through the winter season, not only did they take first place overall, but they also won multiple individual and relay events including the 200-yard medley relay which is working towards swimming a state time.

“We got first place which was really exciting because I think there were four teams and we don’t usually do that well,” junior Ashlyn Bunch said. “Our 400-free A relay dropped an entire minute. I don’t know how but it was awesome though.”

The next home meet for the girls’ swim team will be senior night on Jan. 23 against the Pembroke Hill Raiders and Raymore-Peculiar Panthers.
