In the zone

About to release the ball at the peak of his pitch, senior Angel Chacon narrows his eyes on the strike zone during the March 22 baseball game against Grain Valley. The strike zone is the area between the midpoint of the batter’s torso and his knees. At 17 inches wide, it extends to the edge of home plate. The Griffins lost 18-0 to the Eagles but sophomore catcher Hayden Shay said they hope to improve as the season continues.

“Me and Angel have pretty good chemistry,” Shay said. “We played football together also so we have that trust with each other from different sports which is always good. I hope that as the season goes on we keep adding on to that trust.”
