Following Idol’s footsteps

Students gather in the gym for an annual spring pep assembly and junior Asase Jewel places a paper crown on senior Kennedi Walker’s head after sophomores popped a balloon revealing Walker as a prom queen candidate. The leadership class hosted games that the different classes competed in. After they watched others be nominated over their high school career, it is now their turn.

“I am so blessed,“  Walker said. “My sophomore year I watched a girl just like me [Adena Carr] be announced as prom queen. I wanted to be just like her. She was also black, a theatre student and she sang in choir! I feel like all my kind acts and good vibes are being recognized and I am so, so happy.”
