The sun was hot as it dried the paint on the parking spots. Umbrellas and tents dot the lot as seniors, their friends and their families get to work.
Senior Parking Spot Painting Day is a day when seniors come to paint a personalized parking spot. Seniors pay $10 before choosing their spot and painting. This is the first time the event has happened since 2022.
The event was run by leadership and teacher Morgan Musselman. “The event is historically run by leadership,” Musselman said. “It was super fun and I loved seeing them work together.”
Seniors expressed their creativity by customizing their designs. “I chose a design that described and defined my personality,” senior Kylie Hoefler said.
Others chose something that was nostalgic to them. “I designed it after a show I loved as a kid,” senior Alexus Palacios said. “Since it was my last year, I thought I’d enjoy it like I did as a kid.”
The seniors also brought their own supplies, which was very expensive. “It cost about $100,” senior Katelyn Wilkinson said.
Painting a parking spot is a fun way to kick off the year, as well as make memories with friends and family. “I would recommend painting a parking spot because it is a fun way to start senior year and it gets kids excited for the year.”
