On January 19th is the beginning of a United States banning of the app TikTok, which is a perfect example of our legal rights. In the junior Government class, Mrs. Wilcox teaches the class about the new spread of the app banning, expressing how this ban can violate our amendment. The ban would take place for national security concerns from Bytedance, with the concern of leakage of U.S. information. Bytedance would have to sell the company to a United States company. With 170 million people in the United States using TikTok, Bytedance filed challenges and said “They say the ban would be unconstitutional and would have a negative impact on free speech.”
After the 19th the TikTok ban was uplifted for temporary reasons. The government classes of Winnetonka learned our right of expression and speech. And will continue to use current events to teach our students.
