We jumped into my Mom’s jeep and headed to the grocery story. We were forewarned that a large winter storm was coming, and my Mom wanted to get all of our essentials.
I couldn’t believe how empty the shelves were and how busy the store was. The lines went from the self-service line nearly all the way to the back of the store. Luckily, we made a list before coming, so I knew exactly what I needed and quickly picked up hot cocoa, a brownie mix and new gloves.
On Saturday, I looked out the window and was excited to see fresh snow falling from the sky and piling onto the ground. I decided to make the best of this first snowy day and shovel the driveway.
As I started shoveling, the snow continued to fall and the piles grew and became heavier. I began by shoveling up and down the driveway, but that got so hard that I switched to shoveling from one side to the other. When I finished, I went inside and made some hot cocoa to warm myself up after the cold.
The big snowstorm hit on Sunday, January 5, with snow piling up to 10 inches with heavy wind. I decided to stay in for that day, bake brownies and watch movies. Every once in a while, I’d check outside to see cars trying to drive but ending up stuck on the hill.
With a snow day on Monday, I decided to go outside to build a snowman and have a snowfall fight with my family.
I learned that other students took time during the snow break to go sledding down the hills and make even bigger piles of snow so that they could jump into the piles.
