Winnetonka High School has been awarded the Safe Sports School Award from the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.

Winnetonka was given the First Team Safe Sports Award. Oak Park High School was also given the First Team Safe Sports Award.

Schools that are given First Team awards have completed all recommended and required elements on the checklist.

The Award is presented to schools that provide a safe environment for student athletes and provide the best care possible.

“[The award] shows people that we [Winnetonka] value the safety and well being of student athletes and it is important for the community and students to know that safety is one of our main concerns,” Ian Johnston, head coach for NKCS swim and dive program, said.

This award was presented to seven secondary schools in Missouri. Two of the schools were in the North Kansas City School District.
