Focusing on the music, junior Mattie Peter plays her violin in the fall orchestra concert on October 10 in the auditorium. Peter had been practicing for weeks before the fall concert. She was the first chair in the concert, the leader of the violin section. As the leader, she had to keep up with the beat and concentrate on the sheet music.

“It’s a huge honor to be the leader of the first violin section,” Peter said. “Not only does it show me that hard work pays off, but it motivates me to continue to improve every day for the orchestra which is like a family to me. Although there can be pressure in knowing that the other first violins depend on me, every member of my section is caring and respectful, and I really enjoy getting to lead such a supportive group of people.”
