At Hope Lodge for a National Honors Society (NHS) fieldtrip, sophomore Brian Purkaple shows off the tricks he’s learned on the Chinese yoyo for the cancer patients. On Dec. 13, 15 members of NHS volunteered at Hope Lodge to make cookies, hot chocolate, crafts, and play games with the patients. To entertain the older patients, Purkaple used the Chinese yoyo with grace and skill.

“It takes a while to learn, but I’m glad they enjoyed it,” Purkaple said.
