JV scholar bowl players sophomores Brian Purkaple and Cari Foster in shock after answering a question wrong in the scholar bowl competition against North Kansas City at Kearney High School on Feb. 8. Even though both the varsity and JV scholar bowl teams finished with a score of 2-1. The players do not take losing easy since they put so much practice time in.

“They come in every Wednesday and set up the buzzer system and form teams and either [scholar bowl coach Ron] Mr.Fortune or I read them questions from last year’s released questions,” scholar bowl coach Melissa Camarda said. “They also study the most frequent list to remind each other about famous artists and composers and writers.”
