Junior Emma Evans leading the varsity girls race at Platte Ridge Park for the district cross country race on Oct. 24.

On Saturday, October 24 the cross country team went to the district meet.

Overall  in the girls varsity race, junior Emma Evans took third qualifying her for the sectionals cross country meet that will be held on Nov. 1. Sophomore Lilly Abdulla took 60 place, junior Esther Loukawila took 63 and sophomore Essence Jewel took 64 place in the girls varsity race.

In the boys varsity race, senior Collin Monsees took 64 place and freshmen Brian Purkaple took 66 place.

The course, Platte Ridge Park, had many hills making the race even more difficult. However, Jewel was satisfied with the performance of herself and her teammates.

“I love hills and I dropped 30 seconds,” Jewel said.
